Day 2 Ennerdale Bridge to Rosthwaite

They are not big on mobile phone and internet coverage in the Lake District.

The weather has been amazing, total sunshine and cloudless skies. Good to have some company, Greg Geordie Boy's son joined us for the day.

Our first lake - Ennerdale Water. Stunning and totally tranquil - no people, no boats just silence.

Difficult to get lost walking beside a lake, but we managed it. Lost the path and had to climb down between vertical rocks. Only to find the path alongside.

Stopped at Black Sail Youth Hostel. When we arrived 15 humourless walkers sitting outside, all believing the place was locked up. Until we tried the door and found it open.

After the hostel the path should have taken us a very steep ravine. It looked a bit daunting for us so we took a long detour which had an even more daunting and longer climb.

Impressive views of Haystacks and Buttermere on walk to Honiston and on to Rosthwaite.

15.4 miles tough but good.

As has been said before, 'Keep Calm and Carry On'
Don't think I've ever been there when it wasn't raining.
